SMS vs. MMS Delivery Rule Modifications
Internal Notes
Before this release, notes were used to document events such as treatment plans for virtual visits, post RhinoVideo encounter notes or just to simply make a note that other team members could view about a patient conversation.
Check out all the additional features related to Notes below!
@Mentions
Note:This feature is only available within the Note tab of the compose message box and will not be available within the Note box when assigning a message.
A Member is now able to type the ‘@’ symbol in an internal note, and mention a Member, multiple Members, and/or a Group within the organization.
Groups will display the name of the group and group type (Patient or Team).
Members will display with their Avatar or Profile picture, First and Last name and any associated tags.
When a member types “@”, a list of members will display and as the user continues to type more characters/letters, it will narrow down the search results.
Members who do not have access to view patient messages will not display in the search results (if they can’t view the message, they can not be mentioned).
If a Group is mentioned and a Member in that Group doesn’t have access to patient messages, Rhinogram will not send that member a mention notification. All others in the Group who can see the patient message will get a notification.

Attachments
The + icon has been added to Notes, both within the Note tab of the compose message box and when adding notes within the assign message panel. This will allow members to add attachments to notes when applicable.
Here are a few rules to remember when adding attachments:
Attachments can be added with or without a note (text).
Existing attachment rules apply (Any file types up to 50MB).
After the attachment is saved in the message thread, the member can click on the attachment to view it.

Note: PDF file types will appear as a “link” in the thread to allow members to select the link to view the document. Image files will auto expand and allow members to view the image. See below for examples:
*Important tip*
If the last event on the message thread was a note, the compose box will default to the Note tab for all members.
If the last event on the message thread was a message, the compose box will default to the Message tab for all members.
This is to prevent a member from responding to the patient or contact when the intent was to respond to a note left of a patient message.
Notifications
A member can now differentiate their @mention notifications between patient or team message threads.
A new user preference for @Mentions within the Patient Messages section has been added to Member Preferences. All existing notification rules apply when the new preference is selected.
Locate your profile picture or your initials in the top right corner and select Preferences:
Rules around badge counts for @Mentions within Internal notes:
It will only add one new badge if you were mentioned multiple times within the same note (i.e. @all and @YourName in the same note should only increase the unread mentions badge by 1)
If you are mentioned in more than one note within the same conversation thread, it will display an unread badge for each time your name is mentioned.
If you access a conversation where you are mentioned from an inbox (as opposed to clicking on the conversation from @mentions), it will decrease the @mentions badge count as soon as the mention is opened on the screen.
Rules around @mentions in @mentions list view:
When a member clicks on @mentions in the navigation menu, the following information will display:
Contact’s profile picture or avatar, name, and patient/other/unknown contact distinction
Name of team Member that mentioned their name
A snippet of the internal note written by the Member
If an attachment is included in a note, an attachment icon is at the end of the snippet
When a member clicks on a mention, the Direct section of the navigation menu will be highlighted, as it does when clicking on a contact from the global search.
When a member clicks on the mention from a patient thread, they will be accessing the “global search” version of the conversation (i.e. they will see the entire conversation thread even if they aren’t in that group).
Clicking on a mention from the list view will take the user to the relevant part of the thread.
Direct Team Messages
You can now perform the following actions on Direct Team Messages:
Mark as Read
Mark as Unread
Close
These actions can be performed in one of the following ways:
Select the checkbox to the left of each Direct team message and use the Bulk Actions (Select an Action) drop down to select the appropriate action to be taken to all selected messages.
Use the drop down arrow to pre-select all messages that meet the selection criteria automatically (as opposed to manually selecting each message individually).
From within the Direct team message, select the icon in the top right corner to close the selected team chat.
Note:A member is only closing the conversation for themself as a member. It will remain in the other members' inboxes in Chat. Chat messages that have been closed can be reopened by searching for the members in that chat.
Merge Contact Thread Event
We have now created the ability for team members to see whether or not a contact has been merged by creating a thread event when the “merge” takes place. The thread event will look similar to when a conversation is assigned, closed, etc.
The event will display:
Date/Time Stamp
Member’s name that performed the merge
The name of the non-master contact
Badge Count Number Expanded
Currently the max number for an unread message badge count is 99. This is problematic if an organization has more than 99 unread messages in a given group or inbox.
To solve this problem, the badge count will now display up-to 5 digits long. If the number goes beyond 5 digits, then we will display 99,999.
Availability Hours to include 15 minute increments
The last gift of the season is one all team members will shout for joy on!
Availability hours will now allow for 15 min increments.
This applies to the following areas: Channels, Groups, Members, and Out of Office.
Message Delivery Modifications: SMS vs MMS
Rhinogram will follow the rules outlined below when delivering messages to your contacts:
Messages that contain emojis:
Messages < or = 250 characters will be delivered as an SMS message to the patient’s carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T Mobile, etc).
Messages >250 characters will be delivered as an MMS message.
Messages that do NOT contain emojis:
Messages < or = 500 characters will be delivered as an SMS message to the patient’s carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T Mobile, etc).
Messages >500 characters will be delivered as an MMS message.
How does this apply to your practice?
SMS messages are often delivered in segments to the patient/contact. The higher number of characters in the message, the more likely the patient is to receive multiple message segments.
Example: If a message has 1000 characters and has NO emoji, then the message will be delivered as 1 MMS message to the patient’s carrier and most likely delivered as 1 message to the patient.
However, if the message has 400 characters and has NO emoji, then the message will be delivered as 1 SMS message to the patient’s carrier and most likely delivered as 2-3 messages (each message may contain 140-160 characters otherwise known as segments).
