What is Record Locking?

Locking a record prevents multiple members from editing a contact’s information at the same time.

How does record locking work?

As a member edits a contact, another member in your organization will be prevented from simultaneously trying to edit the same contact until the other Member is finished. Any other member will be able to view the edit contact page, but will be presented with a banner informing them that the contact is currently locked by another member.

I'm trying to edit a contact's profile but it's locked, how do I unlock it?

If another member that has locked the page, logs out of Rhinogram or leaves the edit profile page, the record will be released for you to edit.

How will I know someone is already editing a record?

If you try to edit a locked contact from the summary panel (change HIPAA status or update phone ownership), a notification will inform you that the update could not be made as the contact is currently locked by another member.

How do I know when I am able to edit the previously locked contact record?

You will know that the lock is removed when the banner is no longer visible on the edit contact page. However, it is important to remember that you will have to refresh your browser in order to see this update.

Does Record Locking apply when I am adding a contact?

If you have an unknown contact or phone number come into your organization and proceed to add them in as a contact, only one person will have the ability to do so at one time. This feature prevents duplicate contact records from being created.
