What is Message Translation?
Rhinogram has simplified communication by having the ability to translate incoming messages and compose outgoing messages in their native languages.
How does Message Translation help my practice?
An estimated 25.1 million individuals living in the United States have Limited English Proficiency (LEP), meaning that they reported being unable to speak English “very well.” Hispanic, Spanish-speaking adults account for the majority of individuals with LEP in the United States. Individuals with LEP may face increased barriers to accessing health coverage and care compared to English-speakers.
How do I enable or disable this feature?
Simply go to your Organization Preferences to toggle it on and Update Preferences to save. This will enable the feature for everyone in your practice.
Note: To disable the feature, you will toggle Language Translation to off and Update Preferences again.
How do I translate an incoming message?
When message translation is enabled, you will be able to detect if an incoming message is in a non-English language. If a message is detected as non-English, and is on the list of supported languages, you will be presented with the ability to translate the message to English.
To do so, select the "See Translation" button below the message to view in English. You also have the option to revert back to the original message.
Which channels of inbound communication can be translated?
Message translation applies to any incoming messages on all channels that Rhinogram supports. (Phone, Web Form, RhinoSecure, and Facebook)

Can I translate an internal chat within Team Messages?
No, this does not apply to team chat messages.
Why is the message translation icon not available when I just received a message in a different language?
If a patient messages in using a language that is not currently supported by Rhinogram, then "See Translation" will not be available.
How do I compose a non-English Message?
When translating a thread for the first time you will:
Select “Translate to” in order to open up the list of available languages
Once a language is selected, the composed message is translated to that language and the globe appears with the option to revert the original message back to English.
Select the green paper airplane to send the message in the translated language
When translating a thread for the second time:
If a language has been previously used to translate a message or if an incoming message has been detected as one of the supported languages, then Rhinogram will default the translation option to that language in the compose area.
This becomes the recommended language in the select list, but it is possible to select any language from the list.
How do I make an edit to my message after translating it?
Once a message has been translated, you are in a view only mode. If you would like to make an edit to your message before proceeding to send, select <English in the upper right hand corner to return to your original message to make the edit.
Which channels of outbound communication can be translated?
You have the option to translate any outgoing Facebook or Phone Message to any language supported by Rhinogram. (10 languages listed above).
Note: RhinoSecure or Notes are not supported in message composition translation
Can I translate a template?
You are able to translate a pasted template in the message compose area. If any variables are being used, they will be translated in the same manner as the rest of the message.
Note: Message translation does not apply when you are creating/editing templates within your organization settings.
