What is a front-end carrier?
A front-end carrier would be who you interact with directly. When you think of a phone carrier, companies such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile might come to mind. These carriers are who you would call if you were changing your service or had an issue.
What is a back-end carrier?
Back-end carriers are another service or company, in the background, who assists in the process but rather indirectly. Every front-end carrier has a back-end carrier, and you can find out who yours is by simply reaching out to your front-end carrier. In regards to texting, back-end carriers are more important than you think!
Why is it important to have a back-end carrier that Rhinogram supports?
Rhinogram allows your office number to receive text messages, while also receiving phone calls. Therefore, it is vital that the back-end carrier can separate who gets your texts and who gets your phone calls.
As an example, Bandwidth is a carrier that does not have the ability to separate phone calls and text message destinations. We are unable to provision or make these numbers textable for that exact reason.
What happens if we switch to a back-end carrier Rhinogram does not support?
If you have recently switched any portion of your phone service, or your phone service has informed you they are switching carriers, Rhinogram might be affected. If your back-end carrier is switched to one that we do not support, such as Bandwidth, your text messages, inbound or outbound, will begin to fail.
